« THE GIRL WITH THE GLITTER TOP » Presence Painting Presence PP55 from Presence painting Season 8 series is a kind of « Action painting », a new type of portraiture, an artistic performance to catch the presence. For each painting James invites a new person-model whose presence inspire him.

« This session was special because I was not alone with the model in the studio. There was a photographer, my friend Malty was taking pictures. There was a kind of challenge in painting, a lot of energy too. Everything was fluid. The girl with the glitter top were dancing while I was painting. She was much taller than me with her Leboutin shoes that elongated her slim and graceful silhouette. Everything was fluid, I was in a state of FLOW. I especially like this painting.» 

« In this part of the painting, I leave an important part to the white of the canvas. I do not like to add white to the existing painting. The white of the canvas is what makes the painting breathe, like writing on a white page. »
