This XL Presence painting PP42 « The girl met in a champagne house » is part of the presence painting performance*. This painting is inspired by a woman met at met in a champagne house " during a contemporary art exhibition in the cellars of the Pommery champagne house in Reims, France.
I only saw her in the crowd, her long figure and her red hair. A virtual painting is created in my head, I cannot resist this picture which imposes itself on me. Fifteen days later she came to my studio in Paris - Marais.
« The fluorescent pink evokes the neon lights in the Champagne Pommery caves where I discovered a lot of amazing contemporary artworks. The organic pink form seems to emerge from the depths of the caves. What is incredible is that these caves of champagne were built from real gallo-roman crayères, 30 meters below ground. Gallo-roman architecture spans the centuries. »
