James Arax creates "PRESENCE PAINTING XS", a series of small paintings -21x17cm- on paper

Each "Presence painting" on canvas is associated with a series of 10 to 25 PPXS on paper.

As a part of the performance, after each session with a person-model, James Arax uses the still fresh pictorial material from the MATRIX painting - artistic and sustainable!

Muses & Women inspire James. They are ubiquitous in his artworks. Her presence or souvenir merges with the surface of his paintings.

"Presence Painting Performance" is an augmented form of portraiture that captures the essence and presence of the Performance Guest through various media: paintings, videos, photos, and digital creations. In each performance, James Arax creates an XL canvas painting, known as the MATRIX, as the centerpiece of this artistic interaction. The creative cycle, inspired by the SHEN cycle, delicately plays with the presence and absence of the Performance Guest. These unique encounters take place in major international cities such as Paris, London, Berlin, and New York, adding a global dimension to the experience. To date, James Arax has completed 66 performances, each leaving a unique imprint on his body of work.
