A large place is made in white on the paper to call the model’s skin and porcelain complexion. Red ink stains more or less diluted tending towards a controlled pink. Some discreet annotations with very fine lead, transcriptions of the oral exchanges between the painter and the model during the painting session. James writes the name of the model “Constance” in red ink, with a fine brush like musical notes that would escape from the space of the painting...
